IRWIN Industries receives Gold Award from Chevron refinery El Segundo, CA - The management team at Chevron's El Segundo Refinery recently presented IRWIN Industries with a Gold Award in recognition of the company's recordable-free year at the facility in 2009. "Our people work hard to maintain a safe work environment and we have been consistently recognized for our safety efforts at Chevron over the last several years," says Lyman Deel, IRWIN's Site Superintendent who has overseen the company's maintenance crew at the El Segundo refinery for the past nine years. "We have received Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards from the refinery and look forward to adding to our collection for years to come." IRWIN maintenance crews have worked at the El Segundo facility for more than 15 consecutive years. In 2009, IRWIN's maintenance contract with Chevron was renewed and expanded to incorporate civil construction including excavation, AQMD notification and soil monitoring. "Our employees throughout the Los Angeles basin have done a great job meeting competing demands, remaining focused and never compromising their safety and the safety of those around them," says Kevin Crook, IRWIN's Manager of Construction & Maintenance. As a result of this focus and commitment to safety, IRWIN's Construction & Maintenance group recently completed a 12-month period where employees worked more than one million man hours without a recordable incident.
